Tools¶
Tools are available that can help you to prepare your bibliographies. For example, EndNote is supported by Information Services and can be used to provide bibliography information for Word documents. BibTeX is available for use with LaTeX and provides an easy way to prepare your bibliography and include it within your document.
Microsoft Word provides a referencing tool and can help you to collect the information. It is a good tool for a lot of purposes, but the referencing tool does not provide a way to create annotated references. Therefore, it isn’t useful if you are expected to produce annotated references.
Each of these tools can take time to learn. So, if you plan to use them, allow time to learn how to use them for best effect.
You can construct your list of references manually. However, this puts the burden on you to check through the citations to confirm that they match the corresponding entry in the references section. Use tools if possible to make the task easier.
