13. How you can provide feedback on this module

This is a complex module to run. In addition to the large number of students, there are a lot of staff involved. We try our best to make the module run smoothly and provide information at timely points. If you have suggestions for what would improve the module in some way, please consider one of the following ways to provide your feedback.

  • Speak to or email the Module Coordinator (Neil Taylor), or your Supervisor or your Personal Tutor - this might be the quickest way to get something done this year.

  • Give us some written feedback in the Student Experience Survey (SES - formerly the MEQ). We do read all the comments and think about how that could improve the module in the future. This feedback is anonymous.

  • Speak to your Academic Representatives, who are people from your course. They represent your views to the department, which includes attending the Staff Student Consultative Committee (SSCC) meetings. You can find out your representatives on the Academic Record part of your Student Record. Whilst the Academic Representative will know who you are, they will pass on comments anonymously, this is another way that you can use to provide anonymous feedback.

  • There is the University’s general feedback tool, Tell Us Now, which is another way to provide anonymous feedback.

We do listen to all of your suggestions. We can’t always make a change in the same year as the suggestion is made, but we do think if there are ways to make adjustments if possible.

Examples of some actions from recent years include:

  • Lectures used to be one a week for 6 weeks. It was requested that we had more lectures sooner, which we continue to do this year.

  • A few of years ago, there were comments about the organisation of the material on Bb. We made some changes, which eventually led to this set of pages. We hope that making most of it available in one place and providing a search facility will help.

  • There have been some requests for general guidance on example timeframes for projects, to help guide progress. A document about processes has been available, but it will be expanded this year to discuss timeframes.

Don’t forget that we are also happy to hear about things you like on the module, which we should keep on doing. In the words of an agile retrospective, think about ‘What is going well?’ and ‘What could be better?’.
