Extension Requests
Assessment in Semester 1 and Semester 2 (not summer)
Under the University Rules, extensions can be granted where there are clear medical or personal circumstances (supported by independent documentary evidence) that have affected your ability to submit coursework on time.
If that is the case you should follow the University policy and fill in the appropriate form, which may be found in the Application for Extension document available in English or Welsh. You only need to complete one of these documents.
-
Application for Extension
- Form in English: Microsoft Word (.docx) (Sep 2025). More information is available in Section 3.9 Coursework Extensions, in the Academic Quality Handbook.
-
Dyddiad Cau Gwaith Cwrs Ffurflen Gais Am Estyniad

When you have completed the Application for an Extension, submit an electronic copy to extensions@aber.ac.uk / estyniadau@aber.ac.uk.
Only the Faculty can grant extensions, and only when the Coursework Deadline Extension Application Form has been filled in and submitted. The Faculty team will review the application and respond in 3 working days. If an extension is granted, the work will be marked as normal and feedback given within the normal period after the actual submission.
Notes:
- An Extension Request is different from submitting a Special Circumstances form. If you are not sure about the differences, please contact your Year Tutor to discuss.
- Work handed in late without an extension will be marked as absent from that assessment and no marks will be credited.
