7.4. Machines and Rooms¶
Each project will have its own requirements for suitable machine(s) and hardware for the demonstration. It is important that you plan what is needed and, where necessary, highlight your requirements to the Module Coordinator.
Laptops¶
Where appropriate, it is acceptable to run your demonstration on your own laptop.
If you would like to use a laptop for the demo, but do not have your own, Information Services may be able to loan one for a few days through its Equipment Loans facility.
Desktop machines¶
If your demonstration is scheduled for one of the general teaching rooms, you will be able to use one of the machines in the room. The rooms that we can easily book are:
Delphinium (LL-C56) - Dual-boot machines running Windows 11 and Linux Ubuntu distribution.
Orchard (LL-B57) - Dual-boot machines running macOS and Linux Ubuntu Distribution.
LL-C55 - PC running Windows 11.
LL-C57a - PC running Windows 11.
Specialist requirements¶
Other projects may need access to facilities such as the following:
DSL (MP-1.11)
ISL (LL-ISL)
PAT-Lab (MP-0.45)
Robotics Workshop
If your project demonstrations need to be scheduled in one of these rooms, or if there are other specialist requirements, please tell the Module Coordinator when the demonstrations are being planned.
Room accessibility¶
If you have any accessibility requirements, such as you need the demonstration to take place in a ground floor room, please let the Module Coordinator know.
